Lola & the Boys founder Irina Ovrutsky found a new sense of inspiration after she had children. As a model and business woman, Irina was always in touch with her creative side. But, it wasn’t until after she had her daughter, Lola, and sons, Shia and Julian, (who would later become the inspiration for her brand’s name) that she really felt her inner artist being pulled up to the surface.
At the time, Irina was in the process of building a women’s boutique but decided to put it on hold as she began to see the world through a more colorful, yet practical parental lens. Thus, Lola & the Boys was born. Founded in Chicago during 2016, Lola & the Boys was the bridge between Irina’s modeling career and designer career.
“As you have kids, you realize what they really need and what they don’t,” she says on the brand’s website. “You buy designer clothes and either they don’t really wear it, or they wear it and trash it. I wanted to think of something fun, playful, and high quality that every mom could afford.”
The result was an extensive collection of eye-catching statement pieces, shimmery accessories, and more that prove kids fashion can be both fun for the children yet practical for the parents, all at the same time. Lola & the Boys strives to set itself apart from other children’s clothing lines by appealing directly to its primary target demographic — children — by sourcing and utilizing input from Irina’s own children.
